Zagreb - Zagreb Brewery Museum opens

06 July 2012

Zagreb
Tourism offer of Zagreb became richer with the opening of the unique Zagreb Brewery Museum. The first brewery museum in Croatia was modeled on those of the same kind in the world.

It offers a number of interesting facts from a 120 year long history of the Zagreb Brewery and provides an insight into the history of brewing in Croatia. The setup will be upgraded and expanded and for now visitors have the opportunity to learn all about its history, familiarize themselves with the complex production process and ingredients of beer, see the current art exhibition of Christmas beer designs and an exhibition of archived labels and bottles of beer, watch a 20-minute film about the history of the factory and play the game "Hanging Bowling Alley", which was a popular game, played at the time of establishment of the brewery.

Part of the setup consists of original items from the holdings of the brewery and a part of the content relies on replicas, as to richly illustrate the history of local brewing and the Zagreb Brewery.

Television and neon advertisements arranged by decades, will soon be exhibited.

The Zagreb Brewery was founded in 1892, at a time when small brewery businesses were not able to produce enough beer for a city that was increasingly expanding and developing. During the centuries-old tradition, Zagreb Brewery has grown into the largest Croatian brewery. Since 2009, it has been a member of the StarBev Group which is mainly owned by the global investment fund CVC Capital Partners.
